AGAINST THE ODDS 17: IMPERIAL SUNSET the battle of Leyte Gulf 1944 - english edition
Over four days in October, 1944, US and Japanese forces fought a series of actions relating to the US return to the Philippines, collectively called the Battle of Leyte gulf. This was the largest naval battle in history, with huge risks on both sides, including the first use of "kamikaza battleships" and fleet carriers used as "bait" (Our indepth articles explain all this and even make sense of it!) Historically, the Japanese Navy virtually ceased to exist after this battle, but the US nearly blundered horribly itself. Either side could have been more successful and players face off to try and improve on their historical couterparts.
